Response to a Pithy "Respose"
All of the reasons we went to war in the first place were contrived, completely misleading or based on intelligence from dual agents.
Your attempt to paint all Dems or Libs as weak, or unable to sit through the horrors of war is transparent.
You said: "On the home front, we are beseiged daily with an unending barrage of complaints by the politically correct, weak-in-the-knees, hand-wringing crowd that wants to cut and run with each new setback." Despite what you would like to hear, most Democrats and Liberals would not 'cut and run.' They would not make over 800 American deaths for naught. We were brought into a false war on false pretenses by a pseudo-President, but we must complete the task by being as reasonable as possible.
Bush couldn't find his way out of this mess if he was already out of it. Kerry, though not our savior, is much more competent for the job and will not be suckered into war by a profiteering cabinet, crazed business pals, or his father.

And how could he compare WWII to this BS? The holocaust wasn't a better reason for war than one 20 year old missle with sarin gas? WWII actually had coalitions that were true and ideological, not nomimal and based on the prospect of contracts and oil. You can question the patriotism and resolve of your opposition as much as you want, but it won't change the fact that your attacks are as simple-minded and ignorant as those of your predecessors. Your drinking Rove's Kool-Aid like you never tasted anything better before and couldn't possibly care about any other flavors. I pity the fool.

Comment
La Shawn Barber has quoted extensively from a piece by Gary Crosby in JWR.
The following is a comment that I left in respose to Gary Crosby's piece:
La Shawn,
I don't think that we (those of us who favored the war from the beginning)are loosing our resolve so much as becoming discouraged by the lack of aggressive action on our part. It's terribly disheartening to see our young men and women picked off 1,2,or 3 at a time, while not being able to strike back with the full force available to them.
On the home front, we are beseiged daily with an unending barrage of complaints by the politically correct, weak-in-the-knees, hand-wringing crowd that wants to cut and run with each new setback. What these individuals don't realize is that we are in a war to preseve the very freedoms that they so easily abuse. Unfortunately, because of the political assault that our leaders have had to endure, they, for reasons we may or may not agree with, have had to refrain from "unleashing the dogs of war".
We must remember that we are in this for the "long haul". We cannot, as Margaret Thatcher said, "go wobbly". Many have forgotten that it was a full two years into WWII before we were able to confidently say that the tide had turned. Even with that, there were still many hard-fought and costly engagements that remained. We must endure; and in the process, remind other like-minded folks that the battle will be long, costly, and difficult. But, the fruits of victory will be all that much more sweet, once freedom has been preserved.)
