Matt Drudge, Worse Than the NY Post

A lot of news has been reported today by an increasingly unreliable source, Matt Drudge. If you remember, Mr. Drudge was the same person who was "reporting" Iranian troops amassing the border of Iraq, ready to invade in the vacuum left by departing American and "Coalition" forces. The same Matt Drudge that was reporting on the imminent announcement of Hillary Clinton as Vice Presidential candidate under John Kerry.

This Matt Drudge posted a story that three missiles with nuclear heads were discovered in Iraq today. They were allegedly discovered in a six-foot deep entrenchment filled in with cement, designed in a way to keep sophisticated sensors from discovering nuclear radiation. These reports have been vehemently denied by both Iraqi and some U.S. Officials. In this case, either Drudge was once again so eager to post news quickly that he disregarded any sort of discrepancy or doubt; or this story is correct and the U.S. is waiting for a more opportune time to parade the missiles down Pennsylvania Ave.

Drudge is a sensationalist who prides himself on speed over accuracy, quantity over quality, and loves outrage. I used to consider him a very good source for some news (just like the NY Post), but after the last few weeks I am getting disenfranchised.

Speaking of disenfranchised and Drudge (smooth seque): Celebrities' Anti-Bush Rhetoric Is Alienating Voters... was a headline from Drudge (and is still up as of 15:15 ET). This is one of the most ironic headlines and stories I have seen in a while, and it comes as no surprise that the story was written for the paper which caters towards elementary school children.

The irony here, people, is that it is not the Celebrities' rhetoric that is alienating, it's Bush's policies, theology and ideology that is alienating millions, including many celebrities.
So far, there have been a countless number of celebrities that have 'come out' against Bush. People like Bonnie Raitt, that Dixie Chick, Ozzy Osbourne, Linda Ronstadt, and Whoopi Goldberg have all been outspoken this week. Kofi Annan, at a news conference today, objected to President Bush's claim that the world is a safer place today than it was two or three years ago!

I would never say that the mere position of celebrities signifies validity to a certain argument. There will always be celebrities on either side of any issue. Whether it be abortion, preemption, sweatshops or gun control, every single person has (and has a right to) a fairly unique position.

There are fans of these celebrities who hear what their idols have to say and break down. They can't believe that someone they've idolized for so long turned out to be a Liberal! How could they do this to me? I am ecstatic that these morons finally will have some pause -- for every Britney Spears that comes out and says that she thinks people should 'just support our president' no matter what, etc., we need five celebrities to counter that dumbing down; that insidious helplessness; that subliminal instillment of false safety and comfort.

Speaking of safety and comfort, the Administration is continuing to talk a talk, and walk another walk. On many levels once again, the Bush Administration is everything they call Kery- Edwards. They've called Kerry a flip-flopper (falsely), weak on defense (falsely) and immoral.
There have been far more quantifiable flip-flops over the last couple weeks than Kerry has managed to compile in a far more extensive political background than Bush. The administration is insisting on safety yet issuing terrifying and vague warnings (to offset Democratic news), they are opening up more forests for logging yet purporting Clean Environment acts, and even their knowledge of this whole Berger scandal! I am getting angry again, so I'll just link his (Bush's) Top Ten according to the DNC

With the Conservative Media poised to control even more of the airwaves, the Democrats seem more collected and organized than ever. Although they do not issue daily talking points and tow the line quite like the Republicans do, they are far more forceful and visible than ever. If (god forbid) Bush wins another term, we will be looking square in the face an overwhelming majority of nutcases in the Supreme Court, the House, and everywhere else INCLUDING the TV Media and print Media.

Democrats worry big media threaten democracy
I worry that these bastards were paying attention when Roosevelt said that "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself -- nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance." But isn't that the definition of the word conservative? tending to oppose change.

Is that this thesis? The Bush Administration is the personification of fear?
I fear I have more to say, but too little time to stay awake... more later, sorry
