So, you know how I won't buy the Post anymore... yeah, well, that doesn't stop me from reading it online and seeing its terrible covers everyday. This morning, however, I was very surprised when I saw what seemed to be a very liberal cover. I thought: huh, nah, no! Are people riding the anti-war wave that has risen like spring tide (forgive me).
The problem with this the idiot editors didn't see. Maybe they forgot that the collective attention span of the American public is equal to two big words on a front page. The ones they chose to go with were National Disgrace and a picture of a soldier, which implies the war was a mistake. Then, in little words are partisan politics and the scandalous 9/11 panel. I know that this paper is the farthest thing from impartial and completely without any journalistic sense of responsibility, but they gave people too much credit. Two words is more than enough for most people.
The first thing I saw which surprised me was Bill O'Reilly, just prior to the President's press conference, was digging into Mary Matalin for Cheney and Bush's actions before and after 9/11. I thought, is the right turning left?
Then, in the cover story, the Post Opinion front page news (insert huge guffaw) goes on to lash out at the unpatriotic democrats who have no hearts and hate all of the 9/11 families. I can't believe how often conservatives have to invoke fear, war and 9/11 to pander to the lowest denominator. Their accusations are always found by looking in the mirror. A tactic that may buy them another four years.
"So they cross the bounds of acceptable political discourse, twisting the truth and bending the facts to produce a product that will advance their political ambitions.
To hell with the 9/11 families."
"Because, to the Democrats, the enemy is not just al Qaeda.
It is also the George W. Bush White House."
